Man City CAN still win title but need help from Chelsea

There is no getting away from the fact that Manchester City dropped the baton last night by drawing with Sunderland. The players let the pressure get to them and, as the manager admitted, the hangover from the result against Liverpool was weighing on their minds.

Manuel Pellegrini also refused to give up and stated, as reported by the Daily Star, that City would fight to the end, just as the fans keep telling everyone, `we’re Man City, we’ll fight to the end`. Nobody knows better than us that a title is not lost until it is impossibly out of reach or ther final whistle blows.

Pellegrini said, “All the teams will drop points in unexpected games. The season is very close for all the teams.

“When we finish at the end we will analyse what happened with the games. But for now we are fighting with the same chances as the other teams.

“It was a tough game against Liverpool in their own stadium. We didn’t deserve to lose that game but these things happen.

“We continue with the same trust and we’ll do it till the end of the season. We still have two games in hand and we hope we can win those six points. We must play very well.

“Of course it is possible Liverpool can drop points, or Chelsea. Any team can drop points every week. In the Premier League all the games are close and it’s not easy to go and win.

“It is very important to have experienced players, who in a career have titles, but the most important thing is the performance from now until the end of the season.

“When you are involved fighting for the title your experience is very important, but the most important thing is the performance of the players in these games.

“If we keep on playing like we have been in the whole season I am sure we can win these six games.

“I think the team knows perfectly what they have to do. We lost that game but we have still to play six games more and we will fight to the end to win the title.”

Obviously Liverpool are now favourites, but they have a different type of pressure on them now, with everything to lose. If their luck, which has been incredible, holds, then it is probably curtains for us, but a tricky away trip to Norwich is followed by a clash with Chelsea. If either, or both, of those clubs could do us a favour, momentum will be back with us and it could still be Man City holding the Premier League trophy aloft in mid-May.
