Man City starting XI for derby clash with United

Posted on November 02, 2014 by Admin

Although a draw in the Manchester derby would keep Man City in third place in the Premier League table and ensure that Louis van Gaal and his Man United team remained four points behind us and continued to endure a worse start to the new campaign than they did with David Moyes, surely we will be going for all three points.

Manuel Pellegrini will be desperate not to lose any more ground on the league leaders Chelsea and also to get the season back on track after some disappointing recent results, with the midweek Capital One cup exit at the hands of Newcastle fresh in the memory.

And even though the midweek game saw City lose their inspirational playmaker David Silva to injury, I still expect Pellegrini to go on the attack, especially as United’s main weakness has been their leaky defence. We do have Samir Nasri available again, while Yaya Toure, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero all have great records in recent derby matches.

With our strong defence to give us a solid platform, City can afford to play a 4-4-2 system and really put United on the back foot, while having Milner and Fernandinho in the side should give us plenty of energy and work rate to stop the likes of Rooney and Di Maria having too much freedom.

Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov
Milner, Fernandinho, Toure, Nasri
Dzeko, Aguero

Come on lads, let’s make it four wins out of four against the local rivals and make Van Gaal eat his words!!
