Man City v CSKA Moscow Preview and Line Up

Posted on November 05, 2014 by Admin

The maths is pretty simple for Manuel Pellegrini and Manchester City now in the Champions League. After the disappointing draw with CSKA in Moscow two weeks ago, City are teetering on the brink of an early Champions League exit, but at least we have our destiny in our own hands.

A win tonight against the Russians is absolutely vital. Then even if Roma somehow shock the football world and beat Bayern Munich in Germany, City would still be able to qualify with a win in Rome in the last group game. For now though, it is time to get revenge on CSKA.

Pellegrini should have no problem getting his players fired up for this after the farce of the UEFA fan ban and the poor referee decisions which cost us all three points in the away tie. So while City should have learnt to be a bit cautious in Europe, I am sure that the boss will feel confident of being able to control the game and go with an attacking 4-4-2.

He is unable to call on Kolarov, Silva and Lampard because of injury. Apart from the Serbian left back though, I would not be surprised to see Pellegrini start the same XI that dominated Man United for most of last weekend’s game. Perhaps the fit again Samir Nasri or the aerial ability of Edin Dzeko could persuade him to change it but as City won that game and need to find some consistency, I doubt it.

Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy
Navas, Toure, Fernando, Milner
Jovetic, Aguero

Let’s be honest City fans, if we don’t win this one we don’t deserve to go through.
