Why Guardiola and Man City should relish Arsenal tactics

Posted on November 03, 2017 by Admin

There is always a chance that Arsene Wenger is trying to pull a fast one and pull the wool over the eyes of his managerial rival after revealing this week the tactics he will try to employ when his Arsenal team turn up to face Manchester City on Sunday.

However, I do not think that anything the Arsenal boss says will have much impact on our own manager, or change the way that Pep sets out his Man City side this weekend, whether in terms of personnel or how he wants them to play against the Gunners.

I am sure that City will not take it lightly and remember that in the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Ozil, Ramsey and others in the team, Arsenal have the potential to break through any defence when at their best. But they also tend to give you chances and in Aguero, De Bruyne and the rest we have even more potency and are currently in much more confident and flowing form.

As reported by The Mirror this week, Wenger suggested that while it may be a risk to play an open game against us, it may be even riskier to just try to defend and he could well be right, but I do not think the approach of Arsenal on Sunday should hold any fears for us.

He said, “We will try to play our game. We will not hide.

“When we go there, we want to defend well but you cannot go there and only be focused on just defending. We want as well to play, have the ball and create dangerous situations. The best way to defend sometimes is to attack.

“When you want to play football, you have to accept the risk and you have to play. If you want to play football, when you walk out on the pitch you have to accept the gamble and the risk. It is part of the game.

“After, you have to rate the risk. Is it a bigger risk only to defend than to attack if a team is very strong in attack? Maybe it is a bigger risk only to defend.”

Do you think that Pep and the City players will be rubbing their hands on hearing the Arsenal tactics?
