Will De Bruyne help Man City to seal £46m transfer?

Posted on August 12, 2015 by Admin

I would have thought that the transfer of Kevin De Bruyne to Manchester City was already a done deal after the Man City transfer rumours revealed this week that we had already made an offer of around £46 million to the German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg, despite denials from the coach Dieter Hecking. City have not been shy of splashing even more cash to increase their chances of winning the Premier League title, and De Bruyne will definitely give them more firepower for the campaign, which resumes with a cruch match against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Belgian international star’s current club are really determined to hold on to their player and their talk of not wanting to sell appears to be more than the usual bluff and bluster you hear from clubs that are just trying to get the best possible price, although Hecking did imply earlier this week that they could survive without him. Hecking said: “Given his current form, Kevin would be hard to replace for any club,”

“But should he leave us one day, then we have to spread the responsibility onto many other players’ shoulders, because every departure is also a chance for others.

“Our squad is strong enough, even though it hardly needs to be said that a player like Kevin makes the difference.”

But the bookies still think that the transfer will happen, with a general price of 1/4 on the move to happen means they are convinced that City will get their man. And they do not normally try to give money away so there must be a good reason for them having De Bruyne odds on to be playing at the Etihad stadium very soon.

Perhaps it is the reports that the player is keen on a return to the Premier League after his ill fated spell as a Chelsea player. The Manchester Evening News reckon that Pellegrini is just waiting for De Bruyne to make his feelings crystal clear to his manager and the board at Wolfsburg, but that the City boss is confident that the 24/year old will do so. And with The Mirror also reporting that the German club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs has hinted that they will have to let their star man leave, tells me that De Bruyne will soon be a City player.

The latest news to day is that Wolfsburg have announced that De Bruyne has missed training and has been staying at home for “personal reasons”, increasing the rumours that he will be on his way out of the club very shortly.

So if you fancy having a bet on it, I would not wait too long.
